During the 2007-08 financial year, Business Events Sydney (BESydney) won 37 event bids, exceeding its target for the year. These events will bring around 45,600 visitors to Sydney and New South Wales (NSW) during the next few years and will inject around AU$137 million into the local economy.


Bid wins for Sydney


Some of our bid wins for conferences, meetings and events include:


International Congress of Audiology, 2014


This five-day conference is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates, with an exhibition component of 100 booths. It as an estimated value of AU$8.5 million to Sydney.


World Conference on Lung Cancer, 2013


This event is expected to attract up to 8,000 delegates to Sydney and inject close to AU$20 million into our local economy.


Asia Pacific Life Insurance Council Congress, 2011


This two-day congress is expected to attract up to 8,000 delegates and is worth more than AU$10 million to Sydney. Post-congress incentive programs will boost the value of this event even further.


Asian Dragon Boat Championships, 2010


This event is expected to bring more than AU$672,000 and 600 delegates to Sydney. The Championships will be held at Sydney International Regatta Centre.


Pro-Partner Taiwan Incentive, 2009


This incentive group of 150 delegates will travel to Sydney in March 2009. Their visit will bring around AU$750,000 into Sydney and NSW.


Traditional Chinese Medicine Expo, 2008


This event is worth more than AU$3 million. Sydney’s win is the first time the Expo has been held outside China.


International Congress of the Transplantation Society, 2008


This is the biggest congress to be held in Sydney during 2008, more than double the size of the last time the congress came to Sydney, in 1988.
