Business Events Sydney (BESydney) partners with close to 100 associations every year to bid to bring their international meetings, conferences and events to Sydney and New South Wales. And when we bid for an event, success does not come as a surprise: BESydney has a ‘win rate’ of 73%.


What is conference bidding?


Before any congress, conference, exhibition or event, several cities generally submit ‘bids’ to win the right to host the business meeting. A successful bid needs to be carefully put together: it can take months or even years, and requires considerable professionalism and team work.


We partner with local association or company representatives, industry bodies, government departments and other key groups and organisations to ensure that the best bid is put forward.


How conference bidding works


During the bid process, it's our goal to demonstrate why Sydney is the best place to hold an event. We need to 'sell' Sydney in terms of our infrastructure, our venues, our accommodation, our activities, our climate and our people.


We will demonstrate that Sydney is able to meet - and exceed - the conference organiser’s and international organisation’s every need and desire. We also work with the local host (or ‘bid leader’) to showcase the strength of Australia in a given field.

Events to bid for


Before submitting a bid, we research the costs and benefits of Sydney hosting such an event. At BESydney, we only bid for events that we believe will bring considerable social and financial benefits to our city and your organisation.


We tend to focus on medical and health related events but in general, the types of events we bid for include:

 

  • Conferences and congresses: large gatherings of major associations 
  • Meetings: agenda-driven meetings with medium to large numbers of participants
  • Incentives:  trips provided by companies to reward to groups of high-performing employees
