Bureau Bulletin
August 2008 | Issue 123
Major changes are a foot at the SCVB this month. These changes will impact on your business and membership in the SCVB, so I strongly encourage you to read our Managing Director, Jon Hutchison's article.
This month, we've expanded the distribution of our bi-monthly member newsletter to more staff at our member organisations, so if you're receiving it for the first time, I'd like to welcome you. This newsletter will give you access to the latest news from the SCVB, including upcoming events Sydney has won, industry and member updates and key research findings.
I'd also like to personally invite you to attend one of our upcoming membership information sessions. These sessions will help ensure you know how to make the most of your SCVB membership, and optimise the business leads you receive from the SCVB. Information sessions are held regularly, email Strategic Alliances or phone +61 2 9332 5233 for more information or to register.
The Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) is on again in February 2009. This is the Asia-Pacific's premier trade event for meetings, events and conventions, and we'd love you to be part of our 'Sydney and Surrounds' stand. The booking deadline is 1 September 2008, so move fast if you're keen.
Tourism Australia is collecting information on the positive steps our industry is taking to develop more responsible business practices, and will use this information to market Australia as a sustainable business events destination. Take the lead and register for the audit, to help build Australia's 'green' reputation.
Meanwhile, I am pleased to bring you the AccessNSW year-end results, demonstrating more than 420 leads and business worth more than $4.5 million distributed to SCVB members.
Also, make sure you check out our new digital versions of the 2008 Event Planners Guide and Sydney Incentive Brochure.
And finally, we'll be launching an amazing new website in mid-October, and this newsletter will also get a fresh look and style to match. As a result you won't receive your usual scheduled newsletter in October, but keep an eye out for a new improved issue in November!

SCVB changes name and constitution: Jon Hutchison AM

Future strategies to tap ICCA hindsight
Most issues make more sense with the benefit of hindsight, so it's more than a little handy that the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has released a comprehensive report on international association meetings held during the past decade. Also, find out how to help increase Sydney's ICCA ranking and 'Put Sydney on Top'.
Boost your sales leads and referrals
The SCVB sources and wins first-class business events for Sydney, then passes those leads on to our members, creating a strategic partnership. The 2008-09 issue of the SCVB 'Membership Benefits Guide' has just been released, outlining how the SCVB can help you generate more business opportunties.
Everyone has a story
